Cisco Unity Connection: How to Enable Database Access

After Installing the IBM ODBC Driver for Cisco Unity Connection on Microsoft Windows, remote access on Cisco Unity Connection (CUC) must be enabled by creating an adminstrative user and starting the service 'Connection Database Proxy' on Unity Connection by following these steps:

1.Step 1: Create a Simple Authentication Rule

2.Step 2: Configure a Remote Administrative User

3.Step 3: Start the Connection Database Proxy Service

4.Step 4: Check Connectivity from Report Tool

If problems arise, please see Troubleshooting Cisco Unity Connection Issues .

1.Use initially a simple password to get it working. Then increase security by setting a stronger password.

2.Some special characters in the username or password do not work with the IBM ODBC driver.

3.Do use a simple  Authentication Rule with lockout disabled so it does not accidentally block connection attempts.

The IBM ODBC Proxy is called Connection Database Proxy in newer Cisco releases.
