This section covers issues encountered when generating Word reports.

We recommend that you first follow the section How to Test Word generation to identify the issue in generating Word reports without the time-consuming process of generating a full report.

If Report Tool for Amazon seems to be "stuck" shortly after starting the Word generation (after loading a Word template), most likely there is a concealed message box waiting for your input -  press "Alt + Tab" to cycle through windows.

Word reports can fail due to a multitude of issues in different areas:

• Word settings block Macro execution. Word Macros are used by UPLINX Report Tool for Amazon.
• Concealed message boxes by Microsoft Word during Macro execution that block further execution and make the application look frozen. These message boxes can be hidden under Report Tool for Amazon or other application forms and are hard to see in the Windows Taskbar. You can cycle through windows when you press "Alt + Tab" - this will also show concealed message boxes.
• Word COM interface is not correctly registered ie, installation or registry issues with Microsoft Word. Commonly occurs when downgrading the Microsoft Word installation.
• Bugs or changes in the Word Macros.

Please note that UPLINX cannot test every minor version of Microsoft Word. Small changes to Microsoft Word, in particular to permissions of Word Macros, might require different workarounds that change over time.

Workarounds

If UPLINX Report Tool for Amazon was not able to directly generate the Word report, not all is lost, and you can still generate a Word report with the following option:

Requirements

Microsoft Word 2016 (or later) is required to be installed on the same machine as the Report Tool for Amazon to generate Word reports. Generating Word reports is optional. PDF files can then be generated from Word with the advantage that the document can be first modified before converting to PDF.

Customize Word Reports

The look of the generated Word documents can be fully defined with Word templates and CSS web style sheets, which contain settings such as font and table formatting. To customize Word reports, please see Customizing Your Own Report Templates .
