Enable AXL on CUCM

To allow commissioning on the CISCO CUCM server, AXL SOAP is used. Access to the AXL SOAP API on CUCM has to be enabled and a user with appropriate privileges needs to be set up.

Access to the AXL SOAP API on CUCM requires the following three (3) configuration steps:

Enable the AXL SOAP interface
Add an AXL SOAP user with the appropriate AXL credentials
Assign the AXL SOAP user to the CUCM data source

These three (3) steps are outlined in the following:

Step 1: Enable the Cisco AXL Web Service

Browse to the CUCM Serviceability page on https://<IP_CUCM>/ccmservice
Tools > Service Activation:
- Enable the "Cisco AXL Web Service"

Step 2: Add an AXL Application User

Note: Using the CUCM Administrator. By default, the CUCM administrator has AXL SOAP privileges. Although not recommended, you can use this user for an initial test or a quick setup.

Create an AXL role: CUCM > User Management > Role > Add.
Create a new User Group "AXL Group" in User Management > User Group. On the top right drop down list "Related Links", select "Assign Role to User Group" and assign the previously created Role to the new User Group "AXL Group".
Create a new Application User in User Management > User Group. Add the User Group "AXL Group" to this user so that after saving the roles of the new Application User appear as in the following screen:

Step 3: Enter the cerated AXL application user to UPLINX Cleanup Tool

Assign this user, press update and then "Test Connectivity". Do not proceed until this test has been successful. If it fails, check that the AXL SOAP service and user is properly configured on CUCM
